World Tuberculosis Day: The board adopted a resolution recognizing March 24, 2026 as World Tuberculosis Day in Solano County. Dr. Cameron Kaiser, who identified himself as the county acting health officer and president of the California Tuberculosis Controllers Association, said TB remains a preventable and treatable disease and reported that Solano County provided case management for 21 active TB cases in 2024 and screened hundreds of contacts and immigrant referrals. "If you've got a positive TB test and you've put it off, please talk to your doctor about early treatment," Dr. Kaiser said.
World Autism Awareness Day: The board also adopted a resolution recognizing April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day. A representative for Found It, a peer‑run community center founded locally, described services for adults with disabilities, said the group has grown to more than 40 members, and invited the public to an open house April 18. The speaker urged employers and community members to engage, train and hire people with autism.
Why it matters: County health staff emphasized that TB continues to affect Californians and that local public‑health services provide free testing and treatment. The Found It speaker highlighted peer‑run supports for adults with disabilities and asked the board to promote inclusion and employment opportunities.
