The Brunswick Central School District board approved 14 tenure recommendations and took time to honor retirees during its meeting.
Board president called for approval of items 3.1 through 3.14, noting the number of tenure recommendations on the agenda. After brief remarks recognizing the long service of staff, the board voted to approve the tenure recommendations; the motion passed by voice vote. Trustees congratulated newly tenured staff at the meeting.
The meeting opened with a recognition of retirees. The board announced and thanked retirees by name and years of service: Judy Anderson (23 years), Kate Cullen Duin (unable to attend because of her daughter’s birthday), elementary teacher Tina Greenwood (19 years, formerly a teaching assistant), longtime teaching assistant Michelle Johnston (unable to attend), Patty Lyden (33 years of service, noted later in the meeting), and Jean Gilchrist (library aide and crossing guard, described as “the queen of Grandparents’ Day”). Board members and families were invited to gather for photographs and refreshments.
Following the tenure vote, trustees approved routine personnel recommendations and minutes and also passed consent items related to special-education placements and a Wineskill services contract.
What’s next: the board will post formal minutes and personnel records as required; retiree recognition and tenure congratulations will be noted in district communications.
