The Select Board voted unanimously to appoint Mary Cormier as program assistant for the Council on Aging after the COA board interviewed and recommended her. Cormier told the board she has experience in the arts, property work and some computer skills and said she looks forward to working with older residents.
Separately, the board authorized staff to submit a time-limited mini-grant application for $3,000 to purchase a commercial-grade refrigerator for the Senior Center. Staff said the grant comes from a health-related mini-grant program, requires no match and funds must be expended by June 30. The board moved, seconded and approved the application so staff could pursue the opportunity.
Board members noted the current refrigerator is residential grade and has shown limits during large distributions, and that the grant would allow the Senior Center to upgrade equipment without drawing on the town operating budget.
