The Town of North Brookfield Select Board authorized the use of up to $20,000 in Chapter 90 state funds to pay for easement plans tied to planned bridge improvements on Madbrook Road.
Board members said the requested authorization covers a fee estimate of $15,700 plus an estimated budget contingency of $4,300 to produce easement plans and determine how much private property will be needed for the bridge work. The board noted that staff had visited property owners on both sides of the bridge and that final easement extents will be defined when engineering plans are complete. The board approved the funding authorization by voice vote.
Select Board discussion emphasized that this vote funds planning and property-extent work (right-of-way/easement drafting), not construction or steel fabrication; further steps and approvals will be required before any physical bridge replacement begins.
