The Town of North Brookfield Select Board on May 5 reorganized its leadership and approved payroll and several warrants and spending requests.
Jamie Gilman was nominated and elected chair, Ralph Kaye was elected vice chair and Pete Orsi was elected clerk by voice votes during the reorganization portion of the meeting. The board then approved minutes for meetings on April 21 and April 28, 2026.
The board approved payroll warrant 22 for $336,398.54 and a set of other warrants: school warrant 1088 for $163,299.80 and warrant 1089 for $358.93; fire/highway warrant 1090 for $64,379.45; a wastewater treatment plant project warrant for $37,150; and general fund warrant 1092 for $361,216.25.
Select Board members also approved several departmental spending requests to maintain municipal operations: $474.66 to Howell Lumber for plywood at the burn-building training facility; $1,062 to Bay State Hydraulics for an outrigger piston repair; $6,040 to City Tire to replace tires on four trucks so vehicles can pass annual inspection; $550 to Napa for brake parts for a 2001 F-450; and $775 to cover attendance at a June veterans conference.
Board members described the truck- and equipment-related expenses as necessary to keep fleet vehicles in service and to meet inspection requirements. Motions on the listed warrants and spending requests were moved, seconded and approved by voice votes.
The board adjourned the business portion of the meeting before moving on to new-business items.
