Sherburne County approves proclamations, honors staff and issues routine licenses

At its May meeting the board unanimously approved proclamations (Military Appreciation Month, Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Police Week, Public Service Recognition Week), recognized the auditor's office for financial reporting excellence and approved routine permits and a one-year solid waste license for Import Motors LLC.
Sherburne County commissioners used their May meeting to pass a series of routine proclamations, recognize county staff and approve several consent items and licenses.
Chair Rand Danialowski opened the meeting by welcoming participants in the International Visitor Leadership Program and then the board moved through proclamations: Larry Fonder presented the proclamation declaring May 2026 as National Military Appreciation Month and commissioners voiced support; a separate proclamation designating May 8 as Military Spouse Appreciation Day was read by Katie Green and approved; Commander Zwocky read a proclamation designating May as Police Week and announced a May 13 memorial ceremony; and Tammy presented a proclamation recognizing Public Service Recognition Week (May 3May 9). All proclamations passed by voice vote.
Lorraine from the auditor's office announced Sherburne County received the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2024 fiscal year, marking the county's 32nd consecutive year receiving the honor; the board recognized the staff.
On consent items and routine business the board approved an interim use permit for a manufactured home (Todd Gonzales property), approved a comprehensive-plan map amendment and interim use permit for the Eilers Garden LLC solar project (see separate story), and issued a one-year solid waste license to Import Motors LLC (doing business as KC Used Auto and Truck Parts/ Saint Cloud U-Pull) to operate a processing facility through 05/05/2027 in accordance with the county solid waste management ordinance. Commissioners asked about salvage-site fluid-draining controls and were told those activities occur inside a building and that new licenses typically start with a one-year term followed by a five-year term thereafter.
All routine motions were approved by voice vote as recorded in the meeting transcript; the chair announced each motion carried.
