County authorizes application for Office of Justice Programs victim-witness grant

Dawn, speaking for the county attorney's office, said the recurring grant helps support victim services and that the office has recently added a second victim service coordinator. This year's application will request a larger amount than in prior years in hope of securing additional support for staffing and service provision, though Dawn noted competition for limited funds among prosecuting offices and service organizations.
Commissioners voted to permit submission of the application and to authorize the county attorney to sign the grant agreement if the award is received.
Next steps: the county attorney will submit the application to the Office of Justice Programs and, if the county is awarded funds, will execute the agreement per the board's authorization.
