Adams County Dog & Kennel nearing readiness but state inspection delayed to Nov. 18; county funds and internet installation noted

Dog Warden Donnie Swayne updated the Adams County Commissioners on Nov. 17 about progress at the new Dog & Kennel facility: fencing is being installed, Spectrum internet installation is scheduled for Thursday, and a state inspection was delayed and rescheduled for Nov. 18, 2025.
Swayne told the board the certificate of occupancy is still required before the county can move animals into the facility; he also reported there was no update from vendor Vinyl Tech about the next kennel installs.
Separately the board approved a $5,000 entry to the Ohio Pet Fund (line item added to Dog & Kennel) as part of the supplemental appropriations passed that day.
Why it matters
The inspection and certificate of occupancy are prerequisites to moving animals and operating the kennel. County staff and the dog warden signaled the facility is close to readiness but dependent on inspection clearance and completion of remaining vendor work.
