Mayor Steve Patterson told viewers the Athens DORA (designated outdoor refreshment area) is active and available for use during specified hours this season. "Dora is alive and well," he said, adding that alcohol is allowed only in designated DORA cups and only within the DORA footprint, and that the program is limited to individuals age 21 or older.
Patterson said the DORA began during commencement weekend and will end the Sunday before the fall semester starts. He gave hours for the DORA: Monday through Saturday, noon to 11 p.m., and Sundays noon to 8 p.m., and noted that several Uptown events plan to use the DORA during the season.
