Auburn council adopts updated conflict-of-interest code; consent calendar approved

The Auburn City Council on Jan. 26 adopted an updated conflict-of-interest code after a staff presentation explaining changes required by Senate Bill 852.
A staff member told the council the biennial review identified positions that have been eliminated, revised or newly created and that one notable change is that certain investment-related positions now must file Form 700 directly with the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) under SB 852. "Tonight's item is the adoption of the conflict of interest code," the staff presenter said, outlining the appendix that displays updates and staff's recommendation for approval.
The council opened the public hearing and accepted testimony; no public speakers came forward, and the hearing was closed. A motion to adopt the revised conflict-of-interest code passed on a roll-call vote with all members recorded as voting Aye.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent calendar by roll-call after a motion and second; the consent motion passed with Amara, Stone Calvio, Holmes, Bridal Harris and Mayor Kelly Davis recorded as voting Aye.
Staff noted the changes will update the local filer list to reflect state filing requirements and reclassify the finance director as a filer required to submit forms directly to the FPPC. The council did not receive public comment opposing the update.
