The Eastvale City Council on March 11 voted to amend the city’s authorized positions list, reallocating one administrative specialist in Building & Safety and authorizing a senior administrative specialist in Economic Development, city staff said.
Marcella Mejia, who presented the item, told the council the change is intended to align administrative support after earlier organizational moves and to avoid additional net costs by removing two temporary fellows from the staffing mix. Mejia said the adjustment would yield roughly $3,200 in savings for the remainder of the current fiscal year and about $6,600 in savings in fiscal year 2026–27 while noting larger staffing cost figures for full staffing scenarios.
Mejia described the measures to offset costs: removing use of one WRCog fellow would offset about $20,000 next year, removing a CORO fellow would save roughly $7,000 in the current and following fiscal year, and deauthorizing one administrative specialist was described as producing about $24,000 in current‑year savings and approximately $101,000 in the next fiscal year. Mejia also said there would be no fiscal impact to an existing senior administrative specialist already budgeted in Community Development.
Councilmember McMinn moved to adopt the resolution; Councilmember Rigby seconded. The clerk announced the motion passed 4‑0.
The resolution amends the authorized position list for fiscal year 2025–26 and directs staff to implement the changes described. No public comments were submitted on the item during the meeting.
Next steps: the resolution will be implemented by human resources and departmental staff as outlined by Mejia; no additional hearings were scheduled during the meeting.
