Plumas closes out CDBG microenterprise grants that funneled $409,462 to 20 local businesses

County staff said the grant agreement with the State Department of Housing and Community Development totaled $523,462. Consulting support and administration (Michael Baker International and county staff) reduced the amount available for direct grants; $409,462 ultimately went directly to 20 qualified microenterprise businesses, with awards up to $50,000. Awards and example recipients read into the record included (amounts as presented by staff): Spanish Peak Productions ($4,056.17); Young’s Market (Taylorsville) ($50,000); Pearson Realty (Portola) ($22,849.84); Frank’s Garage (Quincy) ($50,000); Bucks Lake Lodge ($30,012.58); La Porte General Store & Deli ($21,949.16); and others. Staff emphasized the program met HUD national objectives by serving low‑ and moderate‑income microenterprise owners (14 of the 20 classified as extremely low income by county analysis).
The closeout was informational; staff said the grant end date was March 31, 2025, and that the county will submit final reports to the state.
Ending: The board accepted the information and staff will continue required state closeout reporting.
