Clarkston finalizes Pony Express festival logistics, confirms live animal chase for kids

At the April 15 Clarkston Town Council meeting, town leaders finalized plans for the Pony Express community festival and reviewed assignments for volunteers and vendors.
Mayor Ryan L. Thompson and Councilmember Brayden Goodey said Rough Stock will play Saturday night, bounce houses and the same pricing as last year are confirmed, and youth activities will include family baseball games Friday night and a movie in the park. Dan Cooper will run the car show; Mandy Gonzalez will handle Bingo; Duston Godfrey will oversee a skeet shoot planned for Saturday afternoon during a lull between other events; Ted and Chase Goodey will run the chicken/pig chase; Ryan and Darcee Godfrey are in charge of the Gunsight Gallop; face painting and balloon animals were arranged through the mayor. Councilmember Goodey noted uncertainty about a Coke truck vendor and the "fire soak," and said he is confirming dates and property access with Bret Godfrey to hold the horse race and skeet shoot on private property.
During public comment Darlene Thompson asked whether the animal chase would involve real animals; the council confirmed that chickens, rabbits and pigs will be used. Goodey said the Youth Council will handle the movie in the park, teen games, and a pickleball tournament, and could run concessions on Friday night to raise funds for next year.
