Wilson Mason SD No. 7 appoints Kaylee Oberlin to vacant board seat

The Wilson Mason School District No. 7 board unanimously appointed applicant Kaylee Oberlin to fill a vacant seat during a special meeting called to order at 12:01 p.m.

Board members said they had reviewed all three applications for the vacancy and each expressed support for Oberlin, who was the only applicant present in person. "All three are definitely very good candidates," one board member said, "but one of them did stand out a little bit more for me, and that was Keely." Board member Raj said he had "a very similar sentiment" and added, "My vote is with Keeley." Board member Gilmore said she also read all the applications and that Kaylee Oberlin would be her top choice.

A board member moved to recommend Kaylee Oberlin for appointment and another board member seconded the motion. The chair called a roll-call vote; every member present voted "Aye" and the chair announced the motion carried, making the appointment official. The transcript records the roll of members called and present as Wheeler, Raj, Sluder, Kilgore, Johnson, Swint and Gilmore, each of whom voted in favor.

After the vote, members thanked all three applicants for applying and encouraged civic participation; the chair noted it was encouraging to see community interest. The meeting adjourned at 12:07 p.m., and board members welcomed Oberlin and posed for a photo after the meeting.
