The Pismo Beach City Council welcomed staff and children from Happy Time Cooperative Preschool during its April 21 meeting and accepted a glittery token from the students.
Amy Turner, director of Happy Time Cooperative Preschool, introduced the children’s gift and thanked the city for its long-standing partnership: "My name is Amy Turner. I'm the director at Happy Time Cooperative Preschool," she said, adding that the children decorated clams and that the preschool values the city's support.
Council members then read a proclamation designating April 2026 as Month of the Child and Child Abuse Prevention Month, citing the importance of early childhood systems, safe environments and community responsibility. A representative from the San Luis Obispo County Early Care and Education Planning Council accepted the proclamation and praised the city's recognition and partnership.
Council members used the presentation to highlight local early-childhood partnerships and invited residents to upcoming events related to child welfare and education.
