Public Works staff said bids returned lower than the engineer’s estimate and that J&H—an established local contractor—was expected to lead the paving work, which includes storm drain repair and repaving of programmed streets and certain city parking lots.
Public Works reported the program’s all‑in cost, including contingencies, is roughly $4 million—about double the city’s typical best year for paving—and credited Measure R and other voter‑approved revenues for funding the accelerated schedule. Staff said they hope to start no later than June 1 and will post maps and work sequences on the Public Works web page.
Council members urged clear public outreach about sequencing and funding sources and thanked voters who supported Measure R and Measure T funding that made the work possible. The consent calendar motion to approve passed unanimously.
