Butler County pledges 20% match for Industrial Park Road RISE application, approves related road and utility actions

Butler County supervisors on April 28 endorsed a request for state RISE funding to build a new Industrial Park Road that the resolution says is needed to support a planned Feldmeier Manufacturing facility.
By approving Resolution #26-2026 the board pledged a 20% non-RISE local match, agreed to accept and maintain the newly constructed road as part of the county Secondary Road system, and authorized the chair to sign any RISE application documents. The resolution states the project would help retain 34 full‑time jobs in Iowa; the board approved the resolution on a roll-call vote with AYES: Wayne Dralle, Greg Barnett and Rusty Eddy.
During the engineer's update, John Riherd told the board that Peters Construction will handle the initial road off 220th Street for the future Industrial Park Road. Riherd said he will present a Steege Construction contract for board signature next week. He also reported that the Kesley site is ready and that, once work begins in June, three sites are expected to be finished by October.
The board also approved the Secondary Road FY2027 DOT budget and the county's five-year construction program after Riherd's review. Separately, the board approved a utility permit for Butler County REC near 220th Street, added to the agenda by amendment earlier in the meeting.
Motions to approve the RISE endorsement, road budget and utility permit were made and carried with unanimous votes recorded in the meeting minutes. Next procedural steps in the record include submittal of the RISE application and execution of construction contracts.
