Sarpy County approves purchase of 12 dispatcher consoles for new E911 center at about $482,293

Sarpy County commissioners on March 31 approved the purchase of 12 new dispatcher consoles for the county’s new E911 communications center at an amount recorded in the meeting as $482,29.37 in the transcript (the presenter listed the price as $482,293.37 in discussion).

Emergency Communications Director Bill Moldun explained staff used the HGAC cooperative contract to procure consoles from Evans Consoles after reviewing three manufacturers and inspecting units recently installed at the Lincoln-Lancaster 911 center. Moldun said the consoles will provide dispatchers with mapping, radio and telephony tools, and include eight screens per position; staff expects the consoles to last 10 years or more under routine maintenance.

Kimberly, a staff member who assisted in product evaluation, described warranty terms and maintenance expectations: the transcript records that an initial warranty is provided and that maintenance is handled under a separate contract; with maintenance, warranty coverage will extend up to five years and the vendor will cover repairs during that time.
