Miss Chambers, who led the canvass presentation, told the court the canvass covered 12 entities — the cities of Ames, Dayton, Cleveland and Liberty; Liberty ISD, Dayton ISD, Cleveland ISD, Hardin ISD, Haldas Seta ISD and Devers ISD; and Water Control Districts 1 and 5 — and that copies of the canvass had been distributed. "So I need I just need you to accept the canvas, and then it will become part of our records and part of our history," she said.
After a motion and second to accept the canvass, the presiding chair called for a voice vote. The chair announced the motion passed and noted Commissioner Lee voted yes. The court instructed that one signed copy be placed in the minutes and the other retained by the elections office as the official county canvas.
The chair also noted two commissioners were absent; he named Commissioner Arthur as attending a family graduation out of town. Following completion of the canvass paperwork, the court took a procedural motion to adjourn and recorded three "aye" votes before adjourning the special meeting.
