Residents urge Princeton board to update homeschool access and let Eagle Scouts wear cords at graduation

Angela Solomon introduced herself to the board as a district resident and said she has spent months seeking a policy change for homeschoolers. "After 7 months of emailing, speaking with you all, speaking here at meetings, I'm so disappointed to be nearing the end of the school year with no significant sign of movement," Solomon said, urging the board to write a strong policy that could be implemented for the next school year.
Lindsey Young, the mother of the Eagle Scout recognized earlier in the meeting, asked the board to amend graduation attire rules so students who earn Eagle Scout honors may wear Eagle Scout cords at commencement. "We would like to request that the board update the policy so that Eagle Scout students who earn Eagle Scout could wear the Eagle Scout cords at graduation," she said, noting that current policy does not allow the cords.
Board members thanked the speakers and said the requests would be noted; no policy votes or changes were taken at the meeting. Trustees did not give a timeline for action on either request during the public portion of the meeting.
