The Glenwood City School Board completed its annual reorganization and officer elections during a regular meeting, selecting Derek Overly as board president and Scott Linderpelt as vice president. Jordan Parks was elected treasurer and Nicole Miller won the clerk position.
Nicole Miller, a newly seated board member, introduced herself to the board, saying she and her family have lived in the district about 20 years and that "our kids mean the world to us, so we can try and do what we can" to support students. Amy Dawkins, another recently elected member, described her history with the district and her reasons for running, including experience supporting students with higher needs.
The chair explained the nomination process and said nominations do not require a second; votes were taken by hand raise. The board also appointed Nicole Miller as the district delegate to the upcoming annual convention and named Jordan Parks as the alternate.
Board members discussed using the Wisconsin Association of School Boards orientation materials for new members and the administration noted that an updated new-board packet has been prepared for onboarding. Several members encouraged new officers to meet individually with administrators to review duties and suggested the option to use a secret ballot for officer elections when needed.
The reorganization concluded without further challenge and the board moved on to the regular agenda.
The board plans work sessions in early June to review survey results and continue organizational planning.
