The North St. Paul City Council on May 5 approved several routine and ceremonial items in a single meeting.
The council moved to adopt the meeting agenda at the start of the session and passed the motion by voice vote.
On the consent agenda the council approved: minutes for the April 7, 2026 workshop and regular meeting; general claims of $545,715.71; HRA claims of $9,749.61; acceptance of 2025 financial reports audited by LB Carlson LLP; and the AFSCME nonessential union supplemental agreement for 2026 summer hours. Staff presented those items together and the council approved them by voice vote. The transcript does not include individual roll-call tallies for consent items.
The council also presented a proclamation honoring Gene Burwell and designated May 5, 2026 as Gene Burwell Day. Family members Bill and Brian joined the council at the podium for the proclamation.
Separately (and covered in detail in a separate article) the council approved variances enabling the subdivision of a student-built twin home at 2357 7th Avenue East.
The meeting closed after departmental reports, commission updates and announcements about upcoming events including a city park cleanup day on May 16 and other community activities.
