Dickinson Hall senior center updates board on membership and services

At the April 27 meeting Tricia (introduced as Tricia Swall and self-identifying as Trisha), manager of Dickinson Hall, presented an informational report on services to Lake Forest and Lake Bluff seniors.
She told trustees the center has roughly 1,000 members, offers about 1,500 programs annually, provided approximately 1,300 rides within the Lake Forest–Lake Bluff area last fiscal year, and that roughly 650 individuals received support from the center’s social-services program. The manager described a transportation program (wheelchair-accessible van and volunteer drivers), a lending closet for medical equipment and a memory café among program offerings.
Funding sources for Dickinson Hall include the City of Lake Forest (about 39% of the center’s revenue), the Village of Lake Bluff (about 12%), membership dues and a private foundation that supports the senior-advocate position. The presenter said the center plans outreach events, including a senior-voices town hall on June 13 to gather input for funding priorities and programming.
Trustees thanked the presenter and noted the center’s role in keeping older residents connected to the community.
