Trustees approve special-use permit for Land Rover service center at 150 Skokie Highway

The Village of Lake Bluff board on April 27 approved a special-use permit allowing Fields Auto Group (operating as Field Alpha LLC) to use the former Jaguar dealership at 150 Skokie Highway as a Land Rover authorized service center.
Staff said the applicant is not proposing physical site changes other than signage, and the zoning table lists vehicle service and used-vehicle sales as permitted or special uses depending on district. The Planning & Zoning advisory body (PCCBA) previously held a public hearing and recommended approval. Trustees approved first reading and granted a waiver of second reading so the applicant — which wants to close on a purchase and the franchise quickly — could proceed on an accelerated timeline.
During the meeting the applicant's representatives said all existing service employees were offered positions with Fields at the new location and that sales personnel were being offered roles at the northfield Land Rover facility. Trustees reviewed conditions recommended by PCCBA (limits on cut-through traffic, restrictions on car-carrier unloading, and signage approvals) and approved the ordinance on a roll-call vote.
The board congratulated the new business for locating in the community; staff will follow up with the architectural-review process for signage and any remaining permit requirements.
