The Village of Lake Bluff board on April 27 approved the tentative biennial budget for fiscal years 2027–28, a multiyear spending plan that trustees said preserves reserves, controls operating costs and advances capital projects.
President Regis Charlot read budget totals into the record and trustees held a roll-call vote to adopt the ordinance. The plan covers village and public-library funds and includes operating budgets of roughly $14.8 million for fiscal year 2027. Trustees and staff said the budget was assembled to align with the village’s 2026 strategic plan.
The budget document anticipates a substantial capital program tied to stormwater infrastructure, with staff noting tentative bond proceeds in FY2028 to fund planned investments. Charlot said the village will re-invest in infrastructure while maintaining minimum reserve levels and controlling operational costs.
The adoption follows a public hearing that closed at the meeting with no public comments received. The board’s finance director presented March revenue highlights — including increased sales-tax receipts year to date — and trustees voted to accept the finance report before approving the budget.
The ordinance moves the tentative budget into the village’s implementation phase; trustees and staff said further execution steps and project-specific bidding will follow as funds are authorized and contracts are awarded.
