At the May 7 meeting Robert Saint John of the Quilts of Valor spoke about the organization's mission and presented a quilt to Officer Cody Richardson in recognition of his military service.
Saint John identified himself and described the origin of the Quilts of Valor program, saying it began with a dream and that quilts represent a way to honor and comfort veterans. He announced that the foundation wished to recognize Officer Cody Richardson, who served in the United States Army from 2011 to 2019, and presented the quilt as an expression of gratitude.
Mayor and commissioners joined in recognizing Richardson and took a photo after the presentation. The ceremony was a non-policy item and did not require board action.
