The Saugerties Central School District Board of Education approved personnel items and publicly recognized teaching assistants, teachers and a principal receiving tenure at its May 5 meeting.
Board member/ceremony presenter Mr. Maher introduced the tenure recognitions: "Tonight, we celebrate the awarding of tenure to our teaching assistants and teachers," he said as the board called forward recipients to accept certificates and personalized pens. The board read multiple names for teaching assistants and teachers, and specifically announced that principal Christina Giangreco received tenure.
The personnel slate (items 1 through 4) included resignations, leaves of absence, appointments and the tenure recommendations. Michelle Gramaglia moved the motion to approve personnel items and Miss Kelder seconded; the motion passed by voice vote. Following the approvals, the board proceeded with the tenure acknowledgments and members of the public and families were invited to take photos as recipients came forward.
The board did not provide a roll-call tally for the personnel votes in the transcript; votes were recorded by voice as 'Aye.' The tenure recognitions were celebratory and included several named staff, including teaching assistants and classroom teachers called by the board during the ceremony.
