RAVENA‑COEYMANS‑SELKIRK — Three candidates for seats on the Board of Education introduced themselves and summarized priorities ahead of the May 19 election.
Dave Kramer said he is a wildlife biologist with the New York DEC and SUNY ESF and is running again to give back after benefitting from strong teachers and staff. "So that's all I have today, and just vote for me," Kramer said, noting a desire to help craft policies to give students and staff opportunities to succeed.
Incumbent Mike Coyne, who serves as finance committee chair, described his work establishing a new reserve plan and the district's first five‑year fiscal plan, and defended recent leadership hires and capital oversight. "I am asking for the opportunity to continue this work for our children's future," he said, noting his priorities center on fiscal integrity and student outcomes.
Jackie Calmi, running uncontested, reflected on her three years on the board, emphasized social‑emotional supports and said she looks forward to continuing service. She also thanked outgoing member Pete Ross for nearly a decade of service.
All three candidates encouraged community engagement in the upcoming vote and thanked residents and staff for their support.
