The commission authorized staff to negotiate a presenting-partner agreement with DNA Event Creative LLC for the Garden Theatre after the selection committee ranked DNA Event Creative highest among seven proposals submitted to RFQ 26-001-ED (issued Jan. 25, 2026).
Staff said the selection process used established criteria and that DNA Event Creative was the most responsive and best qualified. Commissioners approved the recommendation unanimously.
During public comment several residents and former board members expressed gratitude for the city’s efforts to reopen the Garden Theatre; one longtime community member, Irv Lipscomb, recounted his role in the original restoration and welcomed the return of manager Alana Frisco.
Staff said programming is expected to resume as soon as contractual and operational matters are finalized.
