Argo council unanimously approves grant for fire department, proclamations and Easter overtime pay

The Argo City Council unanimously approved several routine and personnel actions at its April 13 meeting at the Municipal Complex.
Mayor Pro-Tem Corky Massey moved to approve the meeting agenda as presented; Councilperson Dennis Griffin seconded and the motion passed on a unanimous roll call (Griffin, Suggs, Hopkins, King, Massey, Hettich). The council then unanimously approved the minutes of the March 16 work session and council meeting following the same mover and seconder.
The council voted to approve a slate of proclamations for 2026 and 2027 observances, including Women in American History Month (March 2026), National Library Month (April 2026), Peace Officers Memorial Week (May 11–17, 2026), United States Flag Day (June 14, 2026) and other civic observances. Mayor Pro-Tem Massey moved to approve the proclamations and Councilperson Griffin seconded; the roll call vote was unanimous.
On a separate motion, the council approved a Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant award to the Argo Fire Department. The motion was made by Mayor Pro-Tem Massey, seconded by Councilperson Griffin, and carried on a unanimous vote.
Councilperson Mike King moved to approve time-and-one-half pay for employees who worked on Easter Day, April 5, 2026; Councilperson Rick Hopkins seconded. The council approved the payment on a unanimous roll call.
All motions were recorded by roll call with the following recorded votes where provided: Dennis Griffin — yes; Thomas Suggs — yes; Rick Hopkins — yes; Mike King — yes; Mayor Pro-Tem Corky Massey — yes; Mayor Randy Hettich — yes.
