Council asks staff for Malley Center parking info and street-sweeper SOP; city attorney adds litigation-payments summary
Summary
At the May 6 mayor–manager meeting, staff were asked to report who owns the parking lot west of the Malley Center and options for business parking; council members also raised complaints about street sweepers dumping debris, and the city attorney said she added a year-to-date payments section to the monthly litigation-and-claims report.

During the May 6 mayor–manager meeting, City Manager Sean Lewis conveyed council requests seeking more information on two operational items: ownership and parking options for the lot west of the Malley Center, and constituent complaints that street sweepers sometimes dump more dirt than they collect and operate on an unpredictable schedule.
Lewis asked staff to provide specifics about ownership, purchase history and potential parking solutions for businesses near the Malley Center, and to supply a more detailed sweeping schedule and a standard operating procedure for emptying sweepers when full.
City Attorney Tamara Niles said she had added a section to the monthly litigation-and-claims report that lists payments year to date, including the department and the nature of claims; she said most payments to date had been for property-damage claims related to city vehicles.
Next steps: staff will compile parking-ownership information and a sweeper deployment/emptying SOP; the city attorney’s litigation-payments table will appear in the monthly report for council review.
