Patrol lieutenant and fire district report: crime down, department sees busy EMS month

Patrol Lieutenant McCallis gave the council a weekly law‑enforcement summary covering Clay and nearby cities, listing investigative complaints, traffic stops and accidents, burglar alarms, missing‑person reports, domestic‑violence calls and other incidents and urging citizens to report suspicious activity to dispatch (non‑emergency 205‑325‑14502).

"Please be vigilant. If you see something, say something," McCallis said as he provided counts for Feb. 14–20 and encouraged residents to call dispatch for non‑emergencies.

Brandon Dolan of the Centerpointe Fire District briefed the council on January operations: the transcript records about 949 total incident responses across the district, 28 fire‑related incidents, roughly 579 EMS calls and approximately 364 transports. Dolan also said the department offers grant‑funded smoke‑detector installation and invited residents to request assistance.

Dolan noted that a new truck for Station 1 has arrived and described it as a lower‑cost model than some previous purchases. In the transcript he said the truck cost "roughly $8,800,000" and contrasted that with prior models that cost over $1,000,000; the council and staff should verify the purchase price and contract details because the figure recorded in the meeting appears inconsistent with typical vehicle costs.
