The Dade City Commission unanimously adopted Ordinance 2026‑02 on April 14, vacating a 10‑foot city utility easement in the Shadow Lawn subdivision to allow the planned Suncoast Credit Union branch to proceed.
City staff told the commission the easement was platted many years ago, is undeveloped and contains no utilities; the city’s utility director confirmed there are no planned uses that would be affected by the vacation. "It will allow Suncoast Credit Union to continue with their site plan submittal as planned," staff said in presenting the second‑reading item.
The item had previously passed first reading on March 24. During the public hearing on April 14 no members of the public spoke for or against the vacation; the commission then moved and seconded the ordinance and approved it by roll call vote 5–0.
Staff said the vacation will not affect nearby properties or city utility operations. The easement vacation allows the property owner to move forward with site work and construction for the credit union branch; the item will be codified consistent with the ordinance language.
