Montgomery County EMS chief says radio upgrade and modern gear will improve response

“It’s gonna change our lives, communication wise,” McNeely said of the radio transition, noting prior problems when crews in certain county areas could not talk on older radios.

McNeely said equipment improvements have made physically demanding tasks more tolerable and helped patient care.
McNeely also advocated for body‑worn cameras and forward‑facing vehicle cameras to document incidents and protect staff. He framed the cameras as a tool that “shows the story” rather than leaving disputes as “he said, she said,” and said he foresees AI applications to aid documentation and charting.
He noted improvements in logistics and supply chain management—moving from open cabinets to a staffed logistics hub—and credited staff who run those systems for enabling continuous operations.
