Hinsdale board to convert limited permit parking on West 2nd Street to 3‑hour zone for clinic access

The Hinsdale Village Board on May 5 advanced a proposal to alter parking regulations on the north side of the 100 block of West 2nd Street, converting the area from red‑permit (all‑day employee) parking to a three‑hour time‑limited zone to accommodate short‑term patient visits to a nearby dermatology office.
Trustee Siffler explained the request, noting the dermatology office recently expanded and its lot holds four staff spaces while the office serves up to "90 patients a day." Siffler said construction and the development of Vine Street Station in the 200 block of West 2nd Street has shifted parking demand and pushed patients into permit areas intended for employees.
Deputy Chief Lilly and staff told the board the dermatology staff agreed to relocate employee parking to underused permit areas on Lincoln and Grant so curb space on 2nd Street can be used for short‑term patient parking. Staff recommended converting the curb to three‑hour parking and monitoring the regulation once the Vine Street Station construction finishes.
Trustees agreed to place the item on the consent agenda and to reassess after Vine Street Station is operational; staff said they would review effects in a few months and return recommendations to the board if adjustments are required.
