Irondale council OKs $9,840 contract for cloud police training and community portal

Irondale’s city council on May 5 approved a consent resolution authorizing Mayor James D. Stewart Jr. or his designee to execute an agreement with Target Solutions Learning LLC, doing business as Vector Solutions, for police training and records software in an amount not to exceed $9,840.

The software package described by Lieutenant Hill includes cloud-based training modules, officer evaluation tools, a community portal that supports vacation-watch notifications, a pet registry, at‑risk citizen profiles for dementia or Alzheimer’s cases, and the ability for officers to log field interviews and trespass warnings. Hill said the department plans to begin training with the vendor immediately and have the system fully operational on July 1 if the council leaves the item on consent and the contract is executed.

Why it matters: The package centralizes training and operational records and adds resident-facing features intended to improve police–community communication, such as automated vacation-watch confirmations and emailed check-ins when officers verify a home watch. Council members asked about specific features—vacation watch, pet registry, and at‑risk profiles—and Hill confirmed those are included. He also said supervisors will be able to run periodic performance evaluations through the platform.

Council process and timeline: The item was placed on the consent agenda and carried without separate vote during regular business after Hill’s presentation and brief questions from council members. Hill said city administrators and department trainers will take vendor-led online sessions so sergeants and officers can be trained ahead of the July 1 operational target.

Next steps: If the mayor signs the agreement, the department will schedule vendor training and roll out the community portal to residents. The council did not attach additional funding or implementation conditions during the meeting.
