St John staff to add wedding fees and a bridal suite at the community center; sprinkler repair quote pending

Town staff told the St John Board on May 7 that demand for weddings at the community center has increased and asked the board to permit additions to the fee schedule for new services and amenities.
Recreation and program director Ren Arvinitis said staff will offer separate fees for table setup and takedown, rental of cocktail tables with linen options, chair covers in white and black, and a new dressing/bridal suite created from an existing closet space so wedding parties can have a place to get ready. "We're going to turn that little space where we currently have the coat closet, with the racks for our hangers on it and make that a little bridal suite," Ren said.
Staff also said they will charge a fee to ignite the fire pit for long events because of gas costs, and that a sprinkler repair quote is pending; once a quote is received the board will be updated. The board did not object and directed staff to open the fee schedule and return with details as needed.
These changes are intended to respond to resident demand and to generate modest revenue to cover staffing and equipment costs for events at the community center.
