The Huntsville City Schools Board of Education began its Feb. 24 meeting with multiple recognitions, including winners from the State Superintendent's Art Show, CyberPatriot teams, and city middle‑school basketball champions.
Miss Fleming introduced Janae Roberts (fourth grade, AAA Elementary) as the elementary 2‑D art winner for a piece titled "Bubbles" and Casey Little (12th grade, Lee High School) as the 11th–12th 2‑D winner for "Marigolds." The district also recognized Huntsville High School CyberPatriot teams for a state championship and qualification as national semifinalists, naming players, coaches and mentors.
Athletic recognitions included Hampton Cove Middle School city champions in girls' and boys' divisions; Miss Fleming called out team rosters and coaches and invited groups forward for photographs. The board concluded recognitions with a resolution honoring district social workers for Social Work Month, citing the 2026 theme "Social Workers Uplift, Defend, Transform" and asking those employees to stand for a photo.
The recognitions occupied the opening portion of the meeting and were followed by the fiscal work session and routine board business.
