At its April 8 meeting the North Logan City Council approved an ordinance to vacate a portion of the 2400 North public right-of-way between 200 West and 300 West (Parcel #19-030-0161), while imposing conditions intended to protect public utilities and access.
Alan Luce explained staff’s reasoning: the segment is unlikely to function as a public road, may be converted into a private lane, and any vacation must preserve utility easements and define maintenance responsibilities and access agreements. Jeff Jackson, an adjacent property owner, said he had a neutral stance and noted impending development plans that could affect subdivision layout.
Council member Emily Schmidt moved to approve the ordinance with conditions to preserve existing and future utility easements and to require unanimous agreement among adjacent property owners; Kenny Reese seconded. The motion passed unanimously with Schmidt, Reese and Mark Hancey voting in favor. The ordinance was recorded without further amendment and the council directed staff to document easements and access provisions in the sale or access agreements.
