The 24-month project is budgeted at $152,529 and would assign one transfer officer to manage roughly 226 active cases currently handled by field staff. County administrators said the position is expected to reduce average field officer caseloads from approximately 150 to about 120.
The grant application authorizes the county to seek state funding for personnel costs tied to the Justice Reinvestment Initiative 2 program; commissioners approved submission but did not vote on award because grant decisions will be made by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The motion passed 3–0 (Padora, Hetherington, Hess).
Next steps: county staff will submit required materials to the PCCD and return to the board with award details and any budget or staffing adjustments if the grant is awarded.
