Jefferson County Board approves NDCC unit at Corner High and multiple service contracts for students

Among the approvals, the board authorized the DA Form 3126-1 application and contract to establish an NDCC unit at Corner High School. The board report describes the NDCC as a three-year Class High School program offering both academic and technical tracks, projected to enroll 100 physically fit students, and providing academic credit as prescribed by the Secretary of the Army.
The board also approved professional services agreements with Studer Education LLC for Clay-Chalkville High School and Erwin Intermediate to implement the Leadership Success Transformer Package. The scope of services listed in the contract includes one full day of on-site leadership coaching, four virtual half-day strategy sessions and twelve individual 50-minute coaching sessions.
Separately, the board approved a 12-month Memorandum of Agreement with the Jefferson-Blount-St. Clair Mental Health Authority to provide mental health services to special education students for the period Oct. 1, 2025–Sept. 30, 2026. The board approved an interpreter service agreement with the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind to provide hearing interpretive services for Jefferson County students from Feb. 1, 2026–Sept. 30, 2026, and an agreement with Positive Behavior Support Corps. to provide functional behavior assessments for special education students as needed through June 30, 2026.
Board members recorded the approvals as part of the Teaching and Learning committee’s "other matters" vote. No dissenting votes were recorded.
The board did not provide further details in the meeting minutes about program implementation steps, specific funding sources for the contracts, or the timeline for launching the NDCC unit beyond the three‑year program designation.
The board reconvened after a separate executive session and adjourned at 11:16 a.m.
