Board approves vacation of section-line easement for Enchanted Forest Lot 9 to create usable area

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Planning Board voted May 7 to vacate a 33-foot section-line easement on Lot 9, Block 15 of the Enchanted Forest Subdivision to create usable area on a 0.52-acre parcel, contingent on staff-recommended conditions.
Planning staff (Kamen Reynolds) reported no objections from borough departments, outside agencies or the public at the time the staff report was prepared, and said prior references calling the easement a "road easement" appeared to be a terminology oversight in older plat records. Staff recommended approval with findings and conditions.
Tim Carmen, representing the property owner, said the petitioner had no concerns with the conditions of approval and was available to answer questions. A board member moved to approve the easement vacation contingent on staff recommendations; a second was made and the motion passed on a voice vote with no objections.
Staff recorded that 395 public notices were mailed for this item on 04/14/2026. There were no substantive public objections recorded in the meeting.
