Councilwoman Jones asked that the administration email the precise proposed locations to council and residents for input; City Manager Wood said he would provide a map and said he had spoken with the contractor and with Nelson to identify tentative locations. Multiple council members raised safety tradeoffs: some noted the humps are intended to reduce speeding and had been sited after walk‑throughs and accident reports, while others warned that multiple humps on a primary corridor can delay emergency vehicles by an estimated 3–10 seconds per hump and compound delays on a route.
Mr. Wood said staff would walk Ward 1 and Ward 2 to assess temporary humps that have been damaged, recommend which temporary humps should be replaced with permanent humps and whether pavement repair or mill/overlay work should precede permanent installation. He estimated about $90,000 in unencumbered contract funds are available (not including the proposed Glenarden humps) and said staff expects to report back at the March 20 council meeting with findings and recommendations.
Council members asked that public safety (fire, ambulance and police) be consulted and that maps and exact placements be circulated to council and neighbors before work begins.
