Parent Community Advisory Council elects James Williams chair; William Bronson named vice chair

James Williams was elected chair of the Parent and Community Advisory Council (PCAC) at the group's May 6 meeting, receiving 12 votes during a live roll-call ballot after being nominated by William Bronson.
The council then chose William Bronson as vice chair. The recorded vote for vice chair listed nine "ayes" and three abstentions. Later, Candace Perkins self-nominated to serve temporarily as recording secretary; the council voted with 12 yes votes to approve her as the interim recording secretary.
PCAC Chair Dolores Millhouse opened nominations and explained that elections are live and non-secret, requiring members to enable cameras and respond on the record. Carletta Lundy moved to adopt the meeting agenda (Dr. Sheila Jackson seconded), and the council also approved minutes from the April 8 meeting earlier in the session.
The leadership changes come as Millhouse and other current officers complete their terms. Millhouse reminded members that PCAC is an advisory body to Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) and urged the newly elected leadership to continue engaging families in the district's work.
The council recorded formal tallies for the contested votes: 12 votes for Williams as chair; the vice chair tally showed nine ayes and three abstentions; the recording secretary vote was recorded as 12 yes votes. The chair said members who declined nominations would remain in their current roles until successors are seated.
The meeting proceeded to a presentation from the Office of Strategic Planning and Resource Management after elections. The PCAC adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
