Elk County commissioners approve routine contracts, fence repairs and fund allocations

At its meeting, the Elk County Board of Commissioners approved several routine contracts and small allocations.

The board approved a $7,980 contract with Daggard Construction to redesign the domestic relations front lobby and install a bullet-resistant transaction window; court administrator Leanne Cobach said the project addresses privacy concerns for clients and is eligible for full reimbursement from the domestic relations incentive account. The motion to accept the quote was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.

The commission ratified a maintenance contract with Anderson Fencing for $1,980.34 to repair county property after a third-party crash damaged two sections of PVC fence in the South Street parking lot. Maintenance staff said the responsible individual reimbursed the county by cashier’s check and repairs are scheduled pending suitable weather.

Commissioners also approved allocations of liquid fuel funds in amounts of $7,500 each for Jones Township and Millstone Township for stone purchases; the allocations will require subsequent PENNDOT approval. The board approved veteran-affairs burial benefits (six veteran burials, four spouse burials and three headstones) and cleared facility-use requests from the Elk County Ecumenical group for an ice cream social on June 26 and for the Glory Bound Music Festival on Aug. 9. Multiple banner requests for the courthouse lawn were likewise approved.

All measures were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; the record shows unanimous 'aye' responses during the roll call moments in the transcript.
