Dunn County awards McKenzie Bay Marina Road contract to Strata; approves contractor payments

The Dunn County Board of County Commissioners on April 15 unanimously awarded the McKenzie Bay Marina Road contract to Strata Corporation for $1,439,590.41 after Brosz Engineering reported the low bid and recommended award.
Eric Urness of Brosz Engineering told the commission bids had been tallied and recommended Strata. "Motion by Commissioner Heiser, seconded by Commissioner Pelton to award the McKenzie Bay Marina Road project to Strata Corporation for $1,439,590.41," the minutes record. The board voted by roll call and all commissioners voted aye.
The meeting also included approval of two contractor pay estimates tied to local road projects. Northern Plains Engineering presented pay estimate #8 for work on 7th St., 113th Ave. and 10th St., recommending payment of $105,194.79 to Baranko Brothers; the board approved that payment unanimously. The board approved pay estimate #1 of $20,418.10 to Schwartz Construction for work on 103rd Ave. SW following a motion and unanimous roll call vote.
Road Superintendent Mike Karey presented several utility permits for county approval — including a SW water line for Teresa Dvorak, a water pipeline for cattle for Jared Danzeisen, and a power connection for Roughrider — which the commission approved without objection. Commissioners were also briefed that the 92nd Ave. SW bid opening occurred April 1 and construction is slated to begin this season.
Taken together, the actions at the April 15 meeting move several road construction and maintenance projects forward and lock in contractor payments needed for continuing work. The board adjourned following approval of warrants and final business.
