Rancho Palos Verdes to pursue small wireless sites, offers storefront grants as budget season begins

On wireless coverage, Seo said staff proposed municipal-code amendments to make installation easier without compromising aesthetics. "One of the carriers is very receptive... they've agreed to put at least six in so far," he said, describing the installations as small wireless facilities that would attach to existing structures rather than new, tall poles.
Seo framed the budget season as a time to prioritize capital projects: beyond landslide spending, staff will evaluate which sewer, stormwater and road projects can be funded. He called stormwater management a high priority and cited a sinkhole on Hawthorne Boulevard as an example of maintenance needs.
On economic development, Seo announced the fourth cycle of the Western Avenue storefront improvement program. The city will offer matching grants between $5,000 and $20,000; applications open March 1 and close April 30, with details available on the city website.
Seo and the host also noted community events and local attractions: Golden Cove businesses including Golden Scoop Gelato celebrated an anniversary, the city will hold an Easter egg hunt on April 4 (registration required), and Whale of a Day on April 11 will tie into the Point Vicente Lighthouse centennial celebration.
The mayor did not provide detailed timelines or the number of wireless sites beyond the carrier's preliminary commitment, nor did he provide exact budget allocations for the listed capital projects.
