Planning Commission to form committee to study feasibility of county building inspector
Summary
County commissioners asked the Planning Commission to form a commission-only committee to study whether a county building inspector is feasible; the committee will examine scope, reporting and funding structures, interlocal options and fee restructuring with a target of fiscal year 2027.
At the April 14 meeting Judy Clark said County Commissioners have requested the Planning Commission form a committee of commission members only to study the feasibility of establishing a county building inspector.
Clark said the committee should examine scope of responsibilities, reporting structure, funding structure and interlocal options, consider permit fee restructuring and prepare financial projections, and try to identify an approach with extremely minimal impact to the county budget and ideally revenue neutral. The target timeframe mentioned for implementation consideration is fiscal year 2027. Clark said she will email suggested members in about a month.
Chair Brent Roggow confirmed suggested committee members include Roggow, Aaron Edwards, Lee Davies, and two members noted in the minutes as Pederson and Eickhoff. No public comments were received on this item. The commission adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
