Council hears staff updates on community projects, railroad agreement and spring cleanup

Staff member Jason updated the council on local projects, saying equipment is staged 'at the end of Central' for a school-moving project, that Crossroads Commons has started construction and that he signed and returned a railroad crossing agreement to the railroad.

Councilmember Steve thanked neighbors who retrieved items after a wind event. Councilmember Tom raised ongoing issues with household waste pickup, urging residents to secure lids and avoid overstuffing bins because drivers may decline to collect containers with lids open. “If you have more stuff in your recycle or garbage and your lid's not shut, technically they're not even supposed to pick that up,” Tom said.

Members reminded residents about the city’s spring cleanup: May 9 and May 11–15, when residents may bring up to 1,000 pounds of accepted material to the dump free of charge; appliances and computers are excluded (they may be accepted for a charge).
