Mount Pleasant introduced Anthony “Tony” Solar as its new assistant fire chief at the village board meeting on March 9, officials said. Solar told the board he was appointed Feb. 12 by the PFC and has already begun work in the department.
Fire Chief Ellis introduced Solar and welcomed him to the community. Solar said he spent 28½ years with the department in Waukegan, Illinois, and described the move as difficult but positive: "I'm very happy to be here. I'm excited to be a part of Mount Pleasant," he said.
The appointment was described as having been made by the PFC; no additional personnel actions were taken by the board at the March 9 meeting. The presentation occupied a brief portion of the agenda before the public-comment period and routine consent items.
The board did not take further formal action related to the fire department during the evening's meeting.
